Solastalgia, A Multimedia Art Exhibition Addressing our Local History and Environment

San Jacinto College South Campus Gallery is proud to announce the opening of Solastalgia, a thought-provoking multimedia exhibition. Curated by Houston artists Cathie Kayser and Ellen H Ray, Solastalgia explores the emotional impact of environmental change on local communities, particularly those in the Houston area. The exhibition brings together a collective of talented Houston artists: Heather L Johnson, Cathie Kayser, Cindee Klement, Renata Lucia, and Ellen H Ray.

This unique exhibition addresses critical environmental issues such as the Brio Superfund site near San Jacinto’s South Campus, Houston's flooding patterns, and the ecological effects of the petrochemical industry.

Solastalgia will be on view until December 6, 2024 and will follow normal gallery hours. The gallery is located in the Flickinger Fine Arts Center, Building S-15, Room: 143. The exhibition is open to the public and admission is free.

Student Reception: Thursday, Oct. 17, 2 - 5 p.m.
Weekend Reception: Saturday, Oct. 26, 12 - 5 p.m.
Artist Talk: Saturday, Oct. 26, 3 - 4 p.m.

Admission

You don’t need to be a student to visit the Gallery. Admission is free for all visitors. Contact the Gallery to set up a tour or just pop in during regular hours.

Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday: By appointment
Closed Saturday and Sunday. Please check for hours during College breaks.
