Your academic status is calculated each term - fall, spring, and summer. It is based on previous academic status, term grade point average (GPA), and cumulative GPA. Good academic standing is an overall GPA of 2.0 or greater.
The calculation includes all classes taken at San Jacinto College, including college preparatory courses. If you have taken a course more than once, only the highest grade is counted. Course work from other colleges are not counted toward your GPA.
We understand you may face some academic challenges. Our academic policies are designed to help you access services you need to succeed. Learn about the conditions of probation and how to regain good academic standing. We are here to help you every step of the way.
If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.0, you will be notified by sjcd email that you have been suspended. If you are suspended, you can not register for classes for one long term - fall, spring, or the entire summer session.
Re-Enrollment
Once your suspension period is over, there are three steps to redeem your good standing:
If you receive a term GPA of 2.0 or greater, but your overall institution GPA remains below a 2.0, you will continue on academic suspension. Additionally, if you do not complete the mandatory advising sessions, you will not be able to register for classes.
