San Jacinto College is approved by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)
as a credit hour program, reporting credits to TDLR when a student completes a course
with a grade of A through D at the end of the semester. If a student fails the courses
or withdraws, students will receive zero credits (which transfers to zero hours)
Dress Code
Black scrub tops and bottoms
Black shoes with minimal color:
Closed-toe, closed-heels, and closed-sides
Example: tennis shoes
Hoodless all-black jackets/sweaters/cardigans/coats are permitted to wear over scrub
tops
The College is not responsible for damage or discoloration to outerwear and scrubs
sustained from chemical usage in labs
Reasonable neat hair/make-up/fresh face expectation will be enforced
Head coverings for religious purposes are permitted
Esthetics students’ nails must be trimmed, manicured, and clean nails
Esthetics students have the option to wear a white lab jacket
Operator students have the option to wear a black lab jacket
Nail technology students have the option to wear a black apron or lab jacket.
Barber students have the option to wear a royal blue barber jacket
Course Work
The online coursework will be located on Blackboard through the CIMA application
Students must have reliable internet and access to a computer or mobile device to
complete their online coursework
Written assignments and exams contribute substantially to our students' final averages.
These assignments often have a weekly deadline
Computer labs are available on each campus as a resource to the student
Labs
Students need to show up prepared daily
Students need to be present and engaged the entire class period
Earbuds and headphones are not permitted due to instructional and safety concerns
Lab assignments and exams are required to assess skill levels and competence
Professionalism and Behavior
We expect both faculty and students to use professional tones with each other
Individuals need to be able to listen and follow directions
Appropriate conversation and language are expected in the lab and while on campus
Fighting, bullying, harassment, and aggressive behavior are not acceptable and may
result in a referral to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities depending
on the severity of the situation
Students who display a pattern of inappropriate behavior issue will be subject to
disciplinary actions as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. Based on the severity
of the offense, a student may be asked to leave the classroom for the day, suspended,
or potentially dismissed from the program.
